Iraqi PM discusses school building projects with Iraq development fund

BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani convened a meeting Sunday with leaders of the Iraq Development Fund to discuss school construction projects, stressing the importance of meeting legal requirements for contract agreements. These include engineering design standards that must be compatible with Iraq’s environment, as well as architectural and aesthetic considerations.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office announced that Al-Sudani led the fund’s board of directors in their second meeting within a month, focusing on investment opportunities for building schools in Baghdad and other provinces. The discussions emphasized the government’s priority for this initiative and the need for swift action.

With the education minister in attendance, the meeting reviewed legal and technical criteria for engaging with investors. This review covered the necessity for engineering designs to accommodate Iraq’s climate and environmental conditions, in addition to architectural and aesthetic standards, construction specifications, project timelines, and execution priorities based on demand and strategic location distribution.
