Kirkuk’s college of arts hosts media training course

KIRKUK — An expansive media training course recently held at the College of Arts in Kirkuk has attracted a wide array of attendees, including media professionals, journalists, graduates, students from the media department, and representatives from civil society organizations and government media offices.

The course, designed to span a month with weekly meetings, is aimed at bolstering legal, ethical, and conventional practices within the realms of media and journalism.

The curriculum of the course covers a broad spectrum of topics, including an in-depth look at Iraqi laws governing media and journalism, highlighting the penalties for media-related offenses and infringements.

Lectures were delivered by esteemed academic professors and veterans in the journalism and media sectors, focusing on the critical aspects of media operations and the significance of adhering to regulatory standards.

Azhi Jawhar, a journalist with 964media, emphasized the importance of mastering the art of the journalistic interview during his presentation. He pointed out the critical role of regulatory bodies, such as the Media and Communications Authority, in maintaining and enhancing media standards.

Veteran journalist Mohammed Al-Daghestani reiterated the course’s main objective: to foster and promote awareness of the legal, ethical, and traditional practices within the media and journalism sectors. According to Al-Daghestani, the initiative is crucial for the development of a well-informed and responsible media landscape.
