Shaqlawa mayor warns livestock owners over grazing on main roads
SHAQLAWA — Authorities in Shaqlawa, north of Erbil, have issued a warning to livestock owners about grazing their animals near main roads, threatening financial penalties for those who violate this directive.
Karzan Nozad, Mayor of the Basirma municipality in Shaqlawa, told 964media, “We caution all shepherds and livestock owners against grazing their animals near main streets, and we will impose fines on anyone found doing so.”
For several years, livestock owners and sheep herders in the district have been allowing their animals to graze alongside the main road linking Erbil and Duhok, which poses significant risks to animal wellbeing. It also presents a considerable hazard to drivers.
