Composer Jaafar Al-Khuffaf showcases poetry and music at Baghdad event

BAGHDAD — The Union of Iraqi Writers honored composer Jaafar Al-Khuffaf on Tuesday at Al-Jawahiri Hall in Baghdad’s Karrada celebrating the release of his first poetry collection, “O, All My Wishes”.

The event, attended by poets, authors and literary enthusiasts, was moderated by poet Hazem Al-Shammari. Al-Khuffaf discussed his musical compositions, recited poetry, and performed several songs.

“This may be one of those unforgettable evenings. I am extremely happy to share my poetry and have people listen to me as both a poet and a musician,” Al-Khuffaf said.

Al-Khuffaf is also known for his compositions for renowned Iraqi poets such as Al-Jawahiri, Badr Shakir Al-Sayyab, and Abdul Razzaq Abdul Wahid.

Moderator Hazem Al-Shammari highlighted the importance of Al-Khuffaf’s transition from composer to poet, emphasizing how Ya Kul Al-Muna explores the connection between lyrics and melody.

Poet Hamadi Al-Shayea praised the collection, calling it “a wonderful work through which this great composer has presented himself as a poet in the best possible way.”
