Kurdistan region sees spike in import licenses and company registrations

ERBIL, August 15 — The Ministry of Trade and Industry in the Kurdistan region announced on Monday that nearly 1,600 import  and 140 export licenses were issued during the first half of this year. Additionally, more than 800 new companies were registered, including 10 listed as “foreign companies.”

Statistics from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Trade and Industry revealed that families in the region received distributions of six food baskets and five portions of flour per family. Additionally, 184 tons of expired goods were seized and 1,490 establishments were closed due to violations.

The Ministry’s Directorate General of Industrial Development also issued 103 licenses for the operation of factories in the region.
