Three suspects arrested in Sulaymaniyah for organ trafficking

SULAYMANIYAH, January 31 – Police in Sulaymaniyah announced on Wednesday that officers had arrested three individuals suspected of organ trafficking. The arrests were made by the Azmar police department.

Police spokesperson Sarkawt Ahmed told 964media the suspects had traveled to Sulaymaniyah from southern Iraq and claimed to have traded organs, such as kidneys, in exchange for payment.

Ahmed said an investigation was underway and that suspects T.M.J., M.B.K., and S.K.Sh. were detained under Article 2 of the Law Against Trafficking in Human Organs.
