Sulaymaniyah traffic police seize two taxis for street racing

SULAYMANIYAH, January 28 — The Sulaymaniyah Traffic Directorate has impounded two taxis involved in street racing and is taking legal action against the drivers.

The directorate released a video on Sunday, recorded by a taxi passenger, showing two taxis racing on the Kalar-Sulaymaniyah highway, an area notorious for car incidents.

The video captures a Nissan Altima and a Toyota Corolla competing at high speeds.

On its Facebook page, the directorate warned, “Such acts are highly dangerous, leading to traffic accidents and potentially to loss of life for the drivers and passengers.”

Yesterday, data from the Sulaymaniyah forensics department showed traffic incidents to be the biggest factor in deaths taken for forensics in the governorate.
