Fifteen camera drones seized from a delivery motorcycle in Baghdad

BAGHDAD — Rusafa police arrested two people on Saturday after finding 15 camera drones on the delivery motorcycle they were riding, saying they held no official permits for them.

Officers from the Karrada Police Department, emergency patrols and the 7th Rusafa Emergency Regiment stopped the pair during a security operation and searched the motorcycle, according to a statement from the Baghdad Rusafa Police Command. Both were detained and legal proceedings begun.

It is the third drone case in the district in a week, though of a different kind. Security forces seized more than 20 locally made drones in Rusafa on Wednesday and arrested four people accused of trading them outside approved regulations, and intelligence and counterterrorism forces dismantled a network planning attacks with explosive-laden drones the previous Friday. Police did not link Saturday’s case to either.
