Six governorates forecast at 50°C on Wednesday as heat persists
BAGHDAD — Najaf, Wasit, Maysan, Dhi Qar, Muthanna and Basra are forecast to reach 50°C on Wednesday, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said Tuesday.
Baghdad is expected to reach 49°C, Karbala and Diwaniyah 48°C, Salah al-Din and Babil 47°C, Kirkuk and Nineveh 46°C, Anbar 45°C, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah 44°C and Duhok 43°C.
Skies will be clear and sunny across most of the country, with intermittent cloud increasing over northern areas. Daytime conditions will remain hot to extremely hot. Light to moderate northwesterly winds are forecast at 10 to 20 km/h, with occasional stronger gusts in central and southern areas that could raise light dust. Horizontal visibility should remain good at 8 to 10 km.
