Kalar vegetable seller builds loyal following from a decade of street-to-door service

SULAYMANIYAH — For the past decade, 26-year-old Ayoub Ramadan has been cultivating vegetables on his family’s land in Girdagozina, a village in Kalar district, and selling the harvest directly in the streets and neighborhoods of the city.

Ramadan told 964media that his father had been a vegetable farmer when he was young but later left the work. Ayoub took over the farmland and now grows onions, radish, leaf celery and other produce using clean irrigation water. “I’ve really enjoyed this job for the past 10 years,” he said. “When the produce is ready, I load it in my car and drive around the streets of Kalar to sell it.”

He said residents instantly recognize his produce when they hear it comes from Girdagozina, helping him build a loyal customer base.

Ramadan has also formed close ties with the community. “If I miss a day, they call and ask if I’m sick or unable to come,” he said.

“I’ve made a lot of friends through this work, and the people are satisfied with what we provide,” he added. “I’m happy and content with this job.”
