Moderate winds, dust, and high heat forecast across Iraq
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s weather remains steady under the influence of a seasonal thermal low, with hot to very hot conditions persisting across most of the country, the Meteorological Authority said in a report Thursday.
Temperatures on Thursday are expected to mirror those of the previous day, with a slight increase anticipated in some regions, according to the authority.
Moderate northwesterly winds are forecast, ranging from 20 to 30 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 45 km/h in southern parts of Nineveh, Salah al-Din, and areas of the southern region. These winds may trigger light to moderate dust storms, particularly in desert zones.
Horizontal visibility will generally range from 8 to 10 kilometers, though it could drop to 5 to 7 kilometers in areas affected by dust. Conditions are expected to improve overnight.
In the south, temperatures in Basra and Maysan are forecast to hit 50°C.
