Halabja focuses on enhancing pomegranate production with specialized seminar
HALABJA, 21 January –Pomegranate orchard owners in Halabja are being convened by the Halabja Agriculture Department for a special set of seminars. The department is intensifying efforts to improve pomegranate cultivation in the region and organized a seminar specifically for pomegranate garden owners.
A notice was issued to pomegranate orchard owners to attend the seminar, scheduled for January 23, 2024, at the Agricultural Instruction Hall. This initiative is part of a broader effort to address the challenges faced in pomegranate cultivation.
Saadi Ghafoor, the head of agricultural guidance at the General Directorate of Agriculture in Halabja, informed 964media about the objective of gathering pomegranate orchard owners. The meeting aims to identify and scientifically address the problems and shortcomings faced by farmers in producing pomegranates.
Ghafoor emphasized that issues in garden construction, breeding, production, and marketing of pomegranates are prevalent among farmers. The seminar is designed to offer practical solutions to these problems. Experts and academics leading the seminar will focus on practical approaches to overcoming challenges in pomegranate production.
The head of the agricultural instruction department highlighted their commitment to enhancing both the production level and the reputation of Halabja’s pomegranates.
According to Halabja’s Agriculture Directorate statistics, the province boasts over 10,000 acres of land dedicated to pomegranate cultivation, with an annual yield exceeding 30,000 tons.
