New experiment to test gas prices

Kurdistan region approves temporary imports of gasoline

ERBIL, August 9 — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Natural Resources issued a temporary and experimental decision on Wednesday to allow fuel stations to independently import gasoline.

The Ministry of Natural Resources announced that it would permit fuel stations to import gasoline based on requests from the region’s governors.

The decision will be in effect until August 31, 2023. During this period, a final evaluation will be conducted to determine whether the imports result in a drop in gas prices at local fuel stations.

The Ministry stipulated that the imported gasoline must meet the quality standards approved by its committees.
