Iraqi foreign ministry condemns Erbil attacks

BAGHDAD, January 16 — Iraq’s Foreign Ministry issued a strong condemnation on Tuesday of an Iranian missile attack on Erbil the previous day, stating that ballistic missiles fired into the country’s north resulted in civilian casualties.

National Security Council Advisor Qasim Al-Araji arrived in Erbil onTuesday. He is tasked with leading a committee, ordered by Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa’ Al-Sudani, to investigate the attack. The committee, which includes the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Interior Minister, will collect information and evidence related to the incident.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for the overnight attack on Erbil.
