German Embassy in Baghdad denies rumors of Quran burning

BAGHDAD, August 3 – The German Embassy in Baghdad denied on Wednesday that a rumored Quran-burning incident had taken place in the country.

Tweets posted to the official German Embassy in Baghdad account said:

“Recent rumours about a public burning of a Quran in Germany are false. We strongly reject any form of religious hatred and intolerance. The desecration of the Quran is offensive and disrespectful.”

“Germany has a vibrant Muslim community and many Iraqis call Germany their home. Now is the time to stand together and not be divided. We are grateful for the excellent German-Iraqi relations and look forward to deepening them further.”
