Air traffic returns to normal

Baghdad airport reopens after dense fog forces closure

BAGHDAD, December 20 — Authorities at Baghdad International Airport announced operations had resumed following a closure lasting several hours early Wednesday due to dense fog and reduced visibility.

Officials released a statement saying air traffic returned to normal after weather conditions in the capital had cleared. Visibility had dropped to 400 meters earlier in the day, forcing the airport to cease operations.

The cloud of dense fog stretched across central and southern parts of the country, resulting in deserted streets and low visibility.
