Officials urge voters to cast ballots

Electoral commission continues voter card distribution until 6 p.m.

BAGHDAD, December 18 — The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) stated on Monday that distribution of voter cards would continue until polls close at 6 p.m., urging 600,000 eligible voters to collect their cards and participate in country’s provincial elections.

Hassan Hadi Zair, a member of the Commission’s media team, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency:

As part of the commission’s measures to facilitate voter participation in the elections, the process of distributing voter cards will remain open until 6 p.m. today.

Cards are available at the offices in both Karkh and Rusafa for Baghdad voters. Additionally, cards for voters in the governorates are also available at the commission’s offices in those governorates, and they can collect them to cast their votes.

Approximately 600,000 voters are eligible to receive their cards, allowing them to collect the cards even on the day of the elections.
