Short circuit suspected

Fire at Zakho poultry farm kills over 100 birds

ZAKHO — A fire broke out Wednesday at a poultry farm in the Chamseermo village area of Zakho, killing more than 100 birds of various types, local authorities said.

Avindar Izzat, a spokesperson for Zakho’s civil defense, told 964media that the blaze was eventually brought under control, although a large number of poultry were lost.

The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but Izzat said the farm owner suspects it was caused by an electrical short circuit.

Authorities reported that the animals destroyed in the incident included chickens, turkeys, roosters and other species.
