Tourist presumed drowned in Mergasor, search underway

SORAN — A tourist is presumed to be drowned Saturday in the Tenkator River in Mergasor district, part of the Soran Administration, according to Soran Civil Defense.

Rawand Hawdiani, spokesperson for Soran Civil Defense, told 964media that search teams are currently working to recover the body.

Soran Civil Defense reported that today morning they were notified of a drowning incident in the Mergasor district. According to Hawdiani, initial reports indicated the victim was a 27-year-old woman who had been visiting the area with her family.

Authorities stated that the incident took place in the Tenkator River. They added that official confirmation regarding the identity and age of the drowned individual is still pending.

“Teams from Mergasor’s civil defense, along with several other units from our stations, were dispatched to the scene,” the spokesperson said.

According to Hawdiani, this is the first reported drowning in the Soran Administration this year.
