Koya barber offers free services to low-income residents during Ramadan
KOYA — A local barber in Erbil’s Koya district has decided to offer free haircuts to those in need for the remaining days of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting.
Zhiyar Saeed, the barber, told 964media that he opened his shop nearly seven months ago, but is expanding his efforts during the holiday period, especially for the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr, to support low-income individuals in the community.
“Several people have already come in and received free haircuts, and we expect many more to visit until the first day of Eid,” Saeed said, adding that his shop will remain open for this purpose daily after the noon prayer until midnight.
Located along Koya Plain Road, Saeed said he hopes to set an example and encourage others in the town to offer similar support. “I’d be happy if other barbers also joined this effort, so we can all help families in need,” he said.
He noted that no other barber shop in Koya has launched a similar campaign.
