Films from over 30 different countries presented
Duhok Film Festival underway with over 100 films
DUHOK, December 12 — Duhok’s tenth international film festival is underway with over 100 films from the region and across the world being screened and judged by panels.
A total of 50 Kurdish films and 66 foreign films from 34 countries are being showcased as part of the festival. The Kurdish films will be subject to scrutiny by a local jury, whereas foreign films will be assessed by a German film company.
Massoud Arif, spokesperson for the Duhok Film Festival, informed 964 that this year’s event has been named “Mother Tongue,” referencing the festival’s commitment to the preservation and celebration of the Kurdish language.
In line with the festival’s theme, the films are presented in a total of 16 diverse languages.
