Basra at 47°C while Duhok falls to 33°C

BAGHDAD — Basra is forecast at 47°C on Saturday while Duhok drops to 33°C, a 14-degree spread, as temperatures fall three to four degrees across central and northern Iraq, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said.

Maysan is expected at 46°C, Dhi Qar 45°C, Wasit and Muthanna 43°C, Diwaniyah 42°C, Babil 41°C, Diyala and Najaf 40°C and Baghdad 39°C. In the north, Kirkuk and Salah al-Din are forecast at 38°C, Nineveh 37°C, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah 36°C and Duhok 33°C.

Skies will be mostly clear with scattered cloud in the south and light suspended dust in central areas, clearing through the day. Northwesterly winds are forecast at 10 to 20 km/h in the centre and north, with light variable winds of 5 to 10 km/h in the south turning northwesterly overnight. Visibility will be 8 to 10 km, falling to 5 to 7 km in dust before improving.
