More than 11 tons

Halabja food inspection unit halts non-compliant salt shipment from Iran

HALABJA, December 3 — Halabja province’s Food Inspection Unit intercepted over 11 tons of salt, imported from Iran, at the Sartak-Pushta border.

Azad Mustafa, head of the health committees at Halabja border gates, highlighted disparities, noting that the seized salt did not conform to Iraqi standards. The health committees, committed to safeguarding imported food safety, undertook preventative measures throughout the week. Subsequently, they successfully thwarted the import of 11 tons and 540 kilograms of salt. Rigorous physical and chemical tests revealed non-compliance with Iraqi specifications, rendering the seized salt unfit for consumption.
