Six wounded in attack on Komala camp in Erbil governorate

ERBIL — Six fighters from Komala, an Iranian Kurdish opposition party, were wounded when an attack hit the group’s camp in the Doli Alana area of Khalifan district on Wednesday evening, a party source told 964media.

The source said the attack was believed to have been carried out with missiles, based on what was heard at the scene, though the party had not confirmed the type of weapon used. The strike also started fires around the camp. No further details were available on the condition of the wounded or the extent of the damage, and no group has claimed responsibility.

The strike follows a series of attacks on Iranian Kurdish opposition groups in the Kurdistan Region. Late Tuesday, the Kurdistan Freedom Party said five missiles targeted its Chamshar base on the outskirts of Erbil but were intercepted by air defenses before reaching it, causing no casualties or damage. Days earlier, the party said eight fighters from its armed wing, the Kurdistan National Army, were wounded in a drone strike on one of its bases northeast of Erbil.

On Friday, seven missiles struck three locations in Sulaymaniyah governorate, killing nine members of Komala. Later that day a suspected suicide drone hit a Peshmerga ammunition depot near Tasluja, setting off a large fire and secondary explosions. On Saturday, Patriotic Union of Kurdistan President Bafel Talabani said Sulaymaniyah had been struck by ballistic missiles launched from Iran and condemned the attacks as violations of international law.
