Hot weather to persist across Iraq with dust expected Wednesday

BAGHDAD — Hot weather is expected to continue across Iraq in the coming days, with temperatures rising slightly on Tuesday before stronger winds on Wednesday trigger dust in parts of central and southern areas, according to the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring.

The authority said conditions would remain mostly clear across the country, with temperatures beginning a gradual decline on Thursday and relatively stable weather expected through the end of the week.

For Tuesday, forecasters expect clear and hot weather with occasional scattered clouds. Temperatures are forecast to rise slightly compared with Monday, while conditions will remain hot during the day and more moderate during the early morning and nighttime hours.

Winds are expected to be light northeasterly at 5 to 10 kilometers per hour, with periods of calm conditions in some locations. In western parts of the country, winds will shift to light to moderate southeasterly at 10 to 20 kilometers per hour. Horizontal visibility is expected to remain good, ranging between 8 and 10 kilometers.

On Wednesday, the weather will remain clear with some clouds in central and southern regions and partly cloudy skies in northern areas. Light to moderate southeasterly winds will shift to northwesterly and strengthen during the daytime, reaching 40 kilometers per hour and causing dust to rise in some parts of central and southern Iraq.

Temperatures on Wednesday are expected to increase slightly in northern and southern regions while remaining similar to Tuesday’s levels in central areas. Visibility will range from 8 to 10 kilometers, dropping to between 3 and 5 kilometers in dusty conditions.

Thursday’s forecast calls for clear weather nationwide with moderate northwesterly winds. Temperatures are expected to decline slightly compared with the previous day, while visibility will remain between 8 and 10 kilometers.

Clear conditions are also expected on Friday, with light to moderate northwesterly winds. Temperatures will fall slightly in central and southern regions and remain close to Thursday’s levels in northern areas.

On Saturday, the weather is forecast to stay clear across Iraq. Light to moderate northwesterly winds will continue, while temperatures are expected to rise slightly in central and northern regions and remain steady in southern areas. Visibility is expected to remain between 8 and 10 kilometers throughout the day.
