Weather report
Rain and thunderstorms to continue in north before clearing Sunday
BAGHDAD — Northern Iraq faces continued rainfall and thunderstorms through the week, while central and southern areas see clearer conditions, the General Authority for Meteorology said Wednesday.
Wednesday will be clear to partly cloudy in central and southern regions, with chances of light to moderate thundery showers in northern and eastern parts of the central region. The north will be partly to fully cloudy with moderate rainfall, possible heavy bursts and downdraft winds in some areas. Temperatures will rise slightly in central and southern areas. Visibility will range from 8–10 km, dropping to 5–7 km due to morning haze and to 2–4 km in areas of heavy rain.
Thursday will be clear with some cloud in central areas, partly to fully cloudy in the north and south, with light to moderate thundery rain continuing in the north.
Friday will bring scattered thunderstorms to northern areas and western parts of central and southern regions, with heavier rainfall expected at night in western areas. Southeasterly winds may become active and raise dust in western areas.
Conditions are expected to stabilize by Sunday, with clear to partly cloudy skies across the country and a gradual rise in temperatures.
