Five fighters killed in 160 attacks on Iranian Kurdish groups, Hengaw says
NEWSROOM — At least 160 missile and drone attacks have targeted the headquarters, bases and camps of Iranian Kurdish opposition parties in the Kurdistan Region since the start of the war involving the United States, Israel and Iran, according to data compiled by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
Hengaw said the headquarters and camps of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan were hit at least 93 times during that period, making it the most heavily targeted group.
According to the organization, the headquarters and camps of the Kurdistan Freedom Party and the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan were each targeted 21 times. It said the Komala Party of Kurdistan was targeted 18 times, the Khabat Organization of Iranian Kurdistan five times and the Komala Communist Party of Iran three times.
Hengaw reported that at least five Iranian Kurdish Peshmerga fighters were killed and around 30 others were injured in the attacks.
The strikes come months after several Iranian Kurdish opposition groups announced the formation of the Alliance of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan in February 2026, a joint political and military framework intended to coordinate their activities. The alliance includes the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, the Kurdistan Freedom Party, PJAK, Komala factions and the Khabat Organization.
