Airstrike kills one PMF fighter, wounds five near Al-Qaim crossing

ANBAR — An airstrike on a Popular Mobilization Forces unit near the Al-Qaim border crossing killed one fighter and wounded four others, along with a Ministry of Defense member, the PMF said Saturday.

The PMF said 45th Brigade was struck at 5:10 a.m. in the Al-Qaim district, describing it as a joint U.S.-Israeli attack. Neither the United States nor Israel has publicly claimed responsibility.

The strike adds to a mounting toll in Anbar. Two fighters were killed and four wounded in a strike on 17th Brigade in Rutba district on Tuesday. Consecutive strikes on Habbaniyah base last week killed 22 military personnel over two days, including the PMF Anbar operations commander. The PMF says airstrikes have hit its positions across seven governorates since the regional war began Feb. 28, killing dozens of fighters.
