Haji Omaran border crossing to reopen Sunday
ERBIL — The Haji Omaran international border crossing between Iran and the Kurdistan Region will reopen to tourist and commercial traffic Sunday, its administration announced Saturday.
The crossing, located northeast of Erbil, is one of the main land routes between the Kurdistan Region and Iran, handling both passengers and cargo. It closed earlier this month after the war between the United States, Israel and Iran disrupted movement on the Iranian side, with traffic restricted since then to returning travelers — Iranian passport holders returning to Iran and Iraqi passport holders returning to Iraq.
The administration said the resumption applies to traders, companies, importers, exporters and citizens of the Kurdistan Region.
