PMF says US airstrike on Jurf al-Sakhar kills one
BABIL — Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces said Monday that a U.S. airstrike targeted one of its security headquarters in Jurf al-Sakhar north of Babil at 2:20 p.m., killing one member and wounding another.
The wounded member sustained moderate injuries and was transferred to Al-Musayyib General Hospital, the PMF said. The statement described the strike as “a serious violation of Iraqi sovereignty” and said it holds U.S. forces “fully legally responsible for the consequences of the attack.”
It is the third day of strikes on the area. Jurf al-Sakhar was hit twice on Saturday, killing two people and wounding three. On Sunday evening, a separate strike hit PMF positions in Akashat, Qaim district in Anbar, killing two members and wounding five, according to a source who spoke to 964media. The site hosts PMF positions including factions such as Kataib Hezbollah.
