'American aggression'

Kataib Hezbollah says it will begin attacks on US bases after airstrikes in Babil

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Kataib Hezbollah armed faction said it will soon begin attacking U.S. bases, describing the move as a response to what it called American aggression.

In a statement, the group said, “We will soon begin attacking American bases in response to their aggression.”

The statement follows airstrikes that targeted the Jurf al-Sakher area north of Babil on Saturday, killing two people and wounding three.

Jurf al-Sakher, also known as Jurf al-Nasr, is a base in northern Babil that has hosted PMF positions, including factions such as Kataeb Hezbollah, since Iraqi forces and allied groups retook the area from ISIS in 2014.

Kataeb Hezbollah is a powerful Shiite militia that is part of the PMF, an umbrella of armed factions in Iraq.
