Rain and mountain snow forecast for northern Iraq on Friday

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s General Authority for Meteorology forecast clear skies in central and southern regions on Friday, with increasing cloud cover in the north bringing rain showers and light snowfall over mountainous areas.

Light to moderate rain is expected in northern parts of the central region, particularly Diyala and Salah al-Din, with heavier bursts possible in some northern areas. Light snowfall is forecast over mountainous heights.

Temperatures will drop by several degrees in central and northern areas compared with Thursday, with a slight decrease in the south. Conditions will remain cold in the morning and evening and mild during the day.

Northwesterly winds will reach 20 to 30 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h in western areas and raising dust. Visibility will range between 8 and 10 kilometers, dropping to 3 to 5 kilometers in rain and dust.

Saturday: Clear in central and south, cloudy in the north with light rain. Temperatures similar to Friday.

Sunday: Partly cloudy in central areas, cloudy in north and south with moderate rainfall in the north. Visibility 8 to 10 kilometers, dropping to 5 to 7 in rain.

Monday: Clear to partly cloudy in central and south, cloudy in the north with light rain. Temperatures steady.

Tuesday: Clear with some clouds in central areas, cloudy in north and south. Temperatures rise slightly nationwide.
