Rain expected in central, northern Iraq through weekend before skies clear
BAGHDAD — Iraq will see partly cloudy to cloudy conditions in central and northern areas Thursday, with chances of light to moderate rain and periods of heavier rainfall in parts of the north, the General Authority for Meteorology said.
The south will be clear to partly cloudy with light rain in the far south.
Temperatures will remain close to Wednesday’s levels in central and northern areas, rising slightly in the south. Conditions will be cold in the morning and at night, turning cool during the day.
Winds will be variable and light at 5 to 10 kilometers per hour. Visibility will range from 8 to 10 kilometers, dropping to 5 to 7 kilometers in haze and heavier rain.
Friday will be partly cloudy to cloudy with light to moderate rain in parts of the north. Winds will be southeasterly, temperatures will rise slightly and visibility will be 6 to 8 kilometers, dropping to 3 to 5 kilometers in rain.
Saturday will be partly cloudy to cloudy with light rain, possibly thundery, in the north, clearing in the afternoon in central and southern areas. Northwesterly winds may raise dust in western parts of central and southern regions.
Sunday and Monday will be generally clear with some clouds in the north. Temperatures will hold steady Sunday and rise slightly Monday.
