Light to moderate rain expected in southern Iraq today

BAGHDAD — The Iraq’s Meteorological Authority reports clear to partly cloudy skies in central Iraq and the Kurdistan Region today, while southern areas will see partly to fully cloudy conditions with gradual improvement during the day.

According to a forecast report, light to moderate rain showers are likely in parts of the south before noon, accompanied by periods of heavier rainfall, thunder, and lightning.

Temperatures will remain similar to Saturday in the central and northern regions, while southern areas will experience a slight drop. Northwesterly winds will blow at moderate speeds, occasionally reaching up to 45 kph in the central and southern regions, causing local dust.

Horizontal visibility is expected between 8 and 10 kilometers, decreasing to 5 to 7 kilometers in the morning due to haze, and dropping to 4 to 6 kilometers in dusty areas.

The forecast for Monday indicates mostly clear to partly cloudy weather across the country with stable temperatures, and a slight increase expected in the south.
