Lighting and green areas updated

Baghdad municipality revitalizes main square in Al-Nasr district

BAGHDAD, November 11 — The Baghdad Municipality has completed repairs on the central square in Al-Nasr neighborhood in the capital’s east, equipping it with modern lighting after years of neglect.

Residents say they are happy with the improvements and urged the municipality to extend similar campaigns to other green spaces in the area.

Local resident Hassan Haitham shared, “The central square in Al-Nasr neighborhood had never seen such lighting and attention before. It used to be a dark square, and now it looks beautiful with green spaces. We call on the Baghdad Municipality to rehabilitate all green areas and parks and maintain them, as these areas have a high population density and lack such green spaces.”

A source from the Baghdad Municipality said delays in the project were due to development on surrounding streets. “Now, lighting has been installed, and the external fence has been repaired and landscaped. Baghdad Municipality aims to increase green spaces in various areas of Baghdad and rehabilitate and plant all neglected parks,” the source said.
