Mandalawi, Hakim stress ‘stability’ in post-election talks
BAGHDAD — Al-Asas Alliance leader Mohsen Al-Mandalawi and Al-Hikma Movement leader Ammar Al-Hakim met Thursday to discuss political developments and emphasized the importance of maintaining stability and completing constitutional entitlements following November 2025 parliamentary elections.
According to a statement from Mandalawi’s media office, the two leaders “affirmed the importance of preserving the stability achieved and completing the constitutional entitlements in a way that enhances this stability.”
They also stressed the need to “unify” political visions and share responsibility among the country’s leading forces to “serve the higher interest of Iraq.”
The meeting further highlighted the importance of cohesion within the Coordination Framework, which the statement described as “a guarantee of the rights of the largest component and a fundamental pillar of stability.” The Coordination Framework is a coalition of mainly Shiite political parties that run the current government.
Voters nationwide cast ballots for all 329 seats in the Council of Representatives in November 11, 2025. Lawmakers in late December elected Haibat al-Halbousi as speaker at the start of the new parliamentary term, while negotiations to form the next government remain ongoing.
