Sulaymaniyah police urge residents to refrain from using fireworks
SULAYMANIYAH — The Sulaymaniyah Police Directorate has issued a public warning ahead of the New Year celebrations, calling on citizens to refrain from using fireworks during festivities to avoid unwanted incidents and potential legal consequences.
In an official statement released to residents, the police directorate emphasized the importance of celebrating safely. “When expressing joy during New Year celebrations, stay away from using fireworks to avoid facing unwanted incidents and legal repercussions,” the statement read.
The warning comes as part of the authorities’ annual safety campaign during the holiday season. Each year, as New Year festivals approach, citizens traditionally celebrate by setting off fireworks.
The Baghdad Operations Command also said Thursday it will not allow the excessive use of fireworks, citing harm and disturbance to residents as well as risks to public safety and property.
