Hot, sunny weather across Iraq with highs above 45 °C in the south
BAGHDAD — Iraq will see sunny skies and extremely hot weather across all regions on Thursday, with temperatures topping 45 °C in the south, the General Authority for Meteorology said.
The authority said the weather is being driven by the seasonal thermal low-pressure system, with temperatures close to Wednesday’s levels. Conditions will stay extremely hot during the day and turn relatively milder at night.
Northwesterly winds of 10 to 20 km/h are expected nationwide, gusting to 45 km/h around midday in parts of southern Iraq. The stronger winds may raise dust and sand in desert areas and along highways.
Horizontal visibility is expected to range between 8 and 10 km, falling to 5 to 7 km in areas affected by dust.
