Erbil agriculture directorate cracks down on Iranian lettuce imports

ERBIL, November 4 — The Erbil Agriculture Directorate has closed six offices in the city of Erbil that were importing Iranian lettuce. Those responsible for these offices were fined, and their produce was confiscated to support local products.

The Ministry of Agriculture in the Kurdistan Region had banned the import of fruits and vegetables since last August to support local agriculture and crops.

Seyid Murad, the Director of Erbil Agriculture, stated:

“We have closed six offices in Erbil that were importing and selling Iranian lettuce. We fined their owners and seized the merchandise to support domestic production.”
