Speeding car kills 35 sheep near Tuz Khurmatu village, owner says

TUZ KHURMATU — A speeding vehicle struck and killed 35 sheep Wednesday evening near the village of Qum Palk in the Dawuda area of Tuz Khurmatu district, the livestock owner told 964media.

Jasim Ahmad said the incident occurred as he was returning home with his flock. “While we were heading back from grazing, a fast-moving Camry swerved into the flock and ran over the animals,” he said.

Ahmad said 30 sheep died instantly, while five others succumbed to injuries before help arrived. “By the time my relatives arrived to help, those five injured sheep had also died,” he added.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and was able to bring the car to a stop after the collision. Ahmad said the driver has since offered to cooperate following the incident.

He blamed the accident on the vehicle’s speed as well as inadequate road safety features. “Poor road lighting and the lack of barriers were also factors,” he said.
