Hot, dry weather to continue across Iraq with limited northern rain forecast
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s national weather authority has forecast continued hot and dry conditions across much of the country this week, with limited chances of light rain confined to the far north.
The Meteorological Authority said most regions can expect clear summer weather, though some northern areas may see overcast skies and scattered showers, occasionally accompanied by localized thunder. The rainfall is expected to be brief and not widespread.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to rise slightly, increasing by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius compared to the previous day, bringing hotter afternoon conditions. Nighttime temperatures will drop modestly, offering relatively milder weather overnight.
Winds will remain light and variable, ranging between 5 and 15 kilometers per hour, with calm periods throughout the day. Southeastern winds will bring increased humidity to the south, while southwestern areas may experience stronger gusts, raising dust and lowering air quality in exposed regions.
The authority also warned of reduced visibility in the early morning due to haze and pollution, estimating horizontal visibility at 5 to 7 kilometers in most areas. In dust-affected regions, visibility could drop to as low as 3 kilometers.
