Pharmacist Killed in Maysan After Refusing to Sell Narcotics
MAYSAN — Police in Maysan have arrested four individuals accused of fatally shooting pharmacist Hawraa Abdul-Muhsin Younis inside a pharmacy after she refused to sell them narcotic medications. The suspects were apprehended following separate chases shortly after the attack.
In a statement received by 964media, the Maysan Police Command said the incident occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m., when officers were alerted that a woman had been shot inside her workplace. She was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later died at 12:30 a.m. due to her injuries.
According to the police, the suspects opened fire after Younis declined to sell them controlled medications. The area was immediately sealed off under orders from Maysan Police Chief Lt. Gen. Lafta Fakhir Al-Muhammadawi, and a joint force from the city police and local patrols located and tracked the suspects near the scene.
All four were arrested and transferred to a detention facility, where legal proceedings have been initiated. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
