At "The Gallery" art hall
Exhibition “Elements” showcases diverse artworks by Iraqi artists
BAGHDAD, October 22 — The “Elements” exhibition, featuring the works of artists Tahseen Al-Zaidi, Waddah Mahdi, and Nabil Ali, has brought together a diverse collection of art at “The Gallery” in Al-Karrada, central Baghdad. The exhibition will run for 15 days.
This collaborative three-artist exhibition will continue until the 5th of November, blending three distinct artistic styles within a shared space and with the presence of art enthusiasts, artists, and journalists.
Artist Tahseen Al-Zaidi, when asked about the exhibition, commented:
“There is a common factor in the three experiences, which is the ‘figure’ and the use of acrylic as a medium that has a specific impact on the audience, providing a unique expressive meaning for each artist. The choice of the title ‘Elements’ for the exhibition is very apt artistically, as the three artists have employed line, mass, and space, each playing a significant role in their work, making these elements the heroes of this exhibition.
These works depict humanity as the highest value above all else in the surrounding environment, with various approaches that offer distinctive expressive dimensions.”
Artist Waddah Mahdi explained his approach, saying:
“I always seek the intimacy found in family through memory in my works. This is why you find the family gathering even during bombing, as happened decades ago during the wars. With the emergence of social media and the rapid changes affecting our lives, I feel that these things are missing. Today’s family is different from the family of the past, which is why I focus on the intimate family atmosphere.”
He further emphasized the value of collective exhibitions, stating:
“The best experiences come from exhibitions that involve three or more artists to ensure diversity in perspective and reception, sparking questions and engaging the audience in discussions. I believe that in a personal exhibition, sometimes the work becomes repetitive, while in a diverse exhibition like this, there is a greater depth of thought, style, and value.”
