Will be implemented in region if successful

Municipality of Kirkuk initiates construction of innovative speed bump

KIRKUK, October 22 — The Municipality of Kirkuk has begun constructing a “model” speed bump on Saturday, designed to minimize accidents and avoid damage to vehicles. They plan to extend this experiment to all regions of the province if successful.

This unique speed bump, with a bottom width of 6 meters, will be located on the Sulaymaniyah Road in the “2 sides Al-Ulama neighborhood” area, and the trial will eventually encompass all areas of the province.

Mohammed Abdul-Karim, the project supervisor for Network 964, stated:

“We have started implementing wide, non-traditional speed bumps that reduce accidents and do not harm vehicles from the bottom, with an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

The bottom width of the speed bump measures 6 meters, and its top width is 4 meters, making it the first of its kind. If successful, the experiment will be expanded throughout the province. The best materials are being used for these types of speed bumps, and the construction of each bump takes approximately two weeks.”
