Iraq mobilizes for Arab League Summit, aims to present ‘roadmap’ in Baghdad
BAGHDAD — Iraq has mobilized diplomatic, logistical, and service efforts ahead of hosting the 34th Arab League Summit, scheduled for May 17 in Baghdad, according to Fadi Al-Shammari, an advisor to the prime minister.
“There are several tracks related to preparations for the Arab Summit,” Al-Shammari said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency. Al-Shammari added that Iraq plans to present a roadmap during the summit, noting that “the government has completed many of these procedures.”
Fadi Al-Shammari’s statement to the Iraqi News Agency:
There are several tracks related to preparations for the Arab League Summit, including the diplomatic track, as all our diplomatic and protocol bodies are fully mobilized to prepare the tools and requirements, organize the venues for the sessions, the accommodation of guests in hotels, halls, meeting and reception places, in addition to the reception teams.
We also have a roadmap that Iraq seeks to present during the summit, and this requires detailed procedures. The government has completed many of these procedures.
There is another aspect related to services and logistical support. We are facing a major Arab summit, and it is expected that a number of Arab leaders will visit Iraq, along with accompanying delegations and the figures who will precede them.
We also have a roadmap and a timeline, and we hope to complete all logistical, political, diplomatic, and service preparations by the middle of month, so that Baghdad appears in its new look and splendor.
