Kurdistan Region leaders extend condolences to Iran after deadly Bandar Abbas explosion
ERBIL — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani extended condolences to Iran’s leadership and the families of victims following a deadly explosion at Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas.
A massive explosion at the port on Saturday resulted in at least 25 deaths and more than 1,000 injuries. The blast reportedly originated from several containers in the wharf area, possibly containing hazardous materials.
President Nechirvan Barzani sent condolences to “the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran” and to the families of the victims. In his message, Barzani expressed solidarity with the people of Iran “during this difficult time,” saying, “We ask Almighty God to bless the souls of the victims and to grant peace and comfort to all.”
He also wished a speedy recovery for the injured and expressed “hopes for safety and stability for the friendly people of Iran.”
KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani also extended condolences to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the families, and the victims of the Bandar Abbas explosion. In his message, PM Barzani conveyed sympathies and wished a swift recovery for the injured, saying, “May Almighty God grant paradise to those who lost their lives and bring peace and comfort to their families.”
