Two university students killed in crash on Pirde-Kirkuk Road

KIRKUK — Two university students were killed Saturday in a traffic accident on the Pirde-Kirkuk Road, witnesses said.

Sarmad Ali, an eyewitness, told 964media that a vehicle carrying three students lost control due to high speed and crashed into a bridge pillar, splitting the vehicle into three pieces.

Two male students died at the scene, while a female student was injured but survived, Ali said, noting she appeared severely traumatized. Ambulances transported the victims and the injured student to Kirkuk.

Ali Anwar, a member of Kirkuk’s traffic police, told 964media that excessive speeding and the absence of traffic surveillance cameras contributed to the incident.
