Coach arrested after allegedly stabbing opposition players during friendly match in Kalar
KALAR — A soccer match in the city of Kalar turned violent Thursday when a coach stormed the field and stabbed three players from the opposing team, according to Garmian police.
The incident occurred during a friendly match in the Sarkawt neighborhood, involving two local teams from the Rizgari subdistrict, police spokesperson Ali Jamal Qadouri told 964media.
“The incident happened on Thursday during a match between two local teams from Rizgari subdistrict,” Qadouri said. “A dispute broke out among the players, and a coach attacked three players from the opposing team with a knife, injuring them.”
The injured players received medical treatment and were later discharged to recover at home.
Qadouri said the suspect was arrested at the scene, and an investigation is underway.
