The Central Bank of Iraq opens new currency exchange outlets
BAGHDAD, October 18 — The Central Bank of Iraq announced on Wednesday the opening of new outlets for selling foreign currency (USD) to travelers at Baghdad International Airport.
Mr. Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, the Governor of the Central Bank, inaugurated the new outlets. He was briefed on the services to be provided by exchange companies around the clock to their customers. He stressed the need for expediting transactions by government banks and exchange companies that sell USD to travelers at Baghdad International Airport since it is time-bound.
The Governor stated that opening new outlets at the airport would have positive effects, particularly because travelers obtaining their USD allocation would take a very short time.
He also mentioned that the activities of exchange companies at the airport would be monitored by the Central Bank of Iraq and the Civil Aviation Authority, in addition to the open bank branches that provide services to customers, including selling foreign currency to travelers.
During his visit to Baghdad International Airport, he discussed with Mr. Imad Abdul Razzaq Al-Asadi, the President of the Civil Aviation Authority, enhancing bilateral cooperation and the ongoing procedures to open new outlets at all Iraqi airports.
