Halabja authorities shut down warehouse over 800 kilograms of spoiled pickles

HALABJA — Authorities in Halabja have shut down an unlicensed food storage facility after seizing 800 kilograms of spoiled pickled products, including garlic, olives, and cucumbers, stored in violation of public health regulations.

Falah Namik, head of the Halabja district committee, told 964media the items had been legally imported from Iran but were kept in unsanitary conditions.

“These olives and garlic were imported legally, but they were stored in a warehouse where they rotted and became contaminated,” he said.

Namik said the products were visibly spoiled and mishandled. “There were no health standards applied in the storage of these items. They were rotten, moldy, and clearly unfit for consumption,” he added.

According to a statement released Sunday by the Halabja district administration, inspection teams visited several locations and ordered the immediate closure of the warehouse due to failure to meet municipal and health standards.

The entire stock was destroyed, and legal action is being taken against the warehouse owner.

“By decision of the joint inspection committees, the spoiled food items were disposed of, and the owner is being held accountable under the law,” the statement read.
